We are not talking just any players from the A Sun. We are talking about the leading scorer on the team that won the conference, and the defensive player of the year in the A Sun conference. Both are great pick ups. Both will make USF a better team next year. Both probably could have been picked up by Power 5 teams.

Need to hold on to Tchewa and Miguel though.

You also can't discount the intangible that is these players have played for the coach and know his expectations. This type of existing chemistry is needed for a new HC on a new team and will only help make for a more efficient transition. I feel they can help hype the players on our team that choose to stay and get on board with the new HC.

I'd argue a coach bringing his own guys is different than Gregory going to get guys he never coached before, in regards to them being a level below.

In 2021 Western Kentucky football hired an OC from Houston Baptist (FCS). That coach brought along his QB Bailey Zappe and a receiver Jerreth Sterns. In year 1 their offense went from 19 PPG to 44 PPG. The QB threw for 6000 yards and 62 TD's. The receiver had 1900 receiving yards and 17 TD's.

Sometimes a trust with the coach and a familiarity with his system outweighs the fact that the player was originally recruited to a lower level.

Would both of them have to sit out a year if they transfer since it would be their second time?

Not sure how accurate but this article indicates they'd have to get a waiver ....

Tougher requirements for multiple transfers

The NCAA has been trying to get out of the waiver business and has made it clear that anyone can transfer one-time without issue, as long as they’re academically eligible of course. But if they move a second time and aren’t a grad transfer candidate, they’ll have to get a waiver, which is going to have stricter requirements. Coach changing and personal reasons are likely to remain options but as the NCAA showed with West Virginia transfer Jose Perez, they’ll deny a player to get eligible if it’s not done in the offseason.

Youngblood was listed as a 4 star on ksu website. #9 player in state of georgia. Stroud as a 3 star. #11 player out of georgia.

shows me he can keep local talent at home.

Here is their schedule from last year.  Not sure USF couldn't have done as well with that schedule once we got past the first 2 weeks. Just saying that the competition level will be different game in and game out once we get to AAC conference play.
