Ryan Odom to USF is a done deal, the decision was made on the 24th. But Ryan Odom's buyout is currently 1.2 million, on April 1st it drops off a lot (estimates to around 800k).

Currently USF and Odom are fine with waiting a week to sign to save 400k, and are playing chicken with Utah State to get them to reduce it so both schools can move forward. KUTV reported yesterday that today he is on a plane back to their campus. 

If that is to tell his team he is leaving we could hear the announcement today or tomorrow.

Sounds risky unless he already signed an agreement.

Exactly.  We're playing "chicken" with the guy we supposedly want instead of getting a deal done?  If something is actually signed wouldn't that mean the buyout is due?

If Kelly pulls this off that would be a hell of a rebound from the Mike Brey fiasco. Since Odom became a D1 coach he has a better record and the same # of tourney appearances as Brey at schools with way less prestige.

The good news regarding Odom right now is there is no news regarding him signing a contract extension for more money at Utah State.

Makes me believe there is a better chance that he is on his way out.

Allegedly the hangup is that his current buyout drops about $400K on April 1. So may end up being announced this weekend after the buyout drops.
