Also was an analyst for SMU prior to that. TE coach is probably one of the least important given that has been Coach Go's bread and butter coming up through the ranks. https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/tennessee-football/2-tennessee-staffers-reportedly-following-alex-golesh-to-usf/ https://twitter.com/CoachJTaylorUT Edited December 8, 2022 by BullyPulpit

It is the coaches on defense that we need to worry about imo

Aren't all college kids about the same age? Or are we talking about we've only been playing football for a quarter of a century?

And I'm not totally sold that a guy like Herman, with some history of success as a head coach, wouldn't have been better for USF. We'll see how it works out since we'll be playing them and they are now in the same conference.

You need a young guy that can work 18 hour days and sleep in crappy motels on the recruiting trail. Herman may well turn out to be better but from the little I'm reading it sounds like Golesh is going to bust his butt off to win here. It's definitely a step down for herman though. people generally don't work as hard when they've been demoted. He's not going to have private planes to recruit or unlimited expense accounts or huge staff to cater to his every need like he did at Texas. More established programs don't need young guys to go out and sell. Generally they will have their pick of recruits. Someone like Alabama can bring in old experienced coaches that don't have to sleep in crappy hotels, spend days on the road recruiting, etc. Kirby Smart recruited a kid at my son's school and he landed his helicopter on the football field. Swinney recruited there as well and he flew in private and rode onto campus in a limo. that isn't happening at USF. we need guys that will drive to the middle of nowhere florida and stay in some flea bag motel to recruit a kid that lives in some podunk town.
