It's an interesting dilemma.  When I bring people who are not from the area they tend to prefer Downtown St. Pete more.  That doesn't mean it's a good location for the region to get to a game though.

Nothing wrong with St Pete.  Just for us up in Pasco County it's quite the drive.

Agreed.  I remember all the analysis being done on the Rays back in the day.  I wonder if they could move the Rays, implode the Trop, and replace it with live-work-play mimosa elderflower drink overpriced apartment scene, and then upgrade Al Lang to keep the Rowdies down there.

Lol I do believe what Jim heard was that the city of St Pete said they will develop a new stadium. What we have not heard was anything official coming from the Rays regarding the new stadium. They will let people know in December per Stuart Sternberg.

The Rays were selected as the winning bidder in an RFP to redevelop the Tropicana field area including a new stadium, their proposal is a semi-official statement about being willing to build in St. Pete.

Of course, that contract has not been finalized, which is what Sternberg expects to take until December to work out the details.  He made the statement so people would stop asking both the team and the City about progress.

That is what the Rays envision live-work-play ball...

Hopefully they sell overpriced elderflower cocktails in mason jars at our stadium and allow kegs again. Time to bring back the fans and fun baby! Let’s go! They really need to incorporate some sort of brewery/beer scene at the stadium.

Basically it is now looking like USF OCS will become a reality while the Rays new stadium still remains a dream…

I do believe there was a TB Rays minor league affiliate called the Orlando Rays. So basically O Town is a minor league city not Major League material
