This is a solid hire. But to your point, the staff the guy brings in is as big of an indicator of success/failure as the hire itself.

I'll backtrack a bit knowing that he calls the offense.

Also, looks like the hire annoyed McMurphy, (seems like Golesh was spugh after and McMurphy was surprised he went with USF) so maybe it isn't so bad.

I still can't believe we missed on so many coaches with experience though. Yikes.

That article was from 2021... the third week of September. Tell me how UT's offense turned out last year... and now this year.

You know football better than most on this board. He seems to be an x's and o's guy and uses his schemes/systems to build players up together. I hope he can recruit, get some good to elite portal talent on defense, hire good assistants especially on defense. I would not be opposed to be brigning back Del Prado, Trickett, Leavitt as DC, and hiring a new strength and conditioning coach.

Everyone saying this is the same as CJS needs to do some background. They have experience as OC’s at big time programs, that’s where the similarities begin and end (CJS was just a co-OC lol)

What makes him Jeff Scott 2.0 outside of being an OC? Spoiler alert: that’s where most HCs come from
