Looking back, he was doomed from the start due to the following:

1) Sticking with Clemson rather than jumping right in with USF (already mentioned by someone else)

2) Poor sub tier coaching choices - his initial coordinators on offense and defense did not install systems based on the existing talent

3) Trying to install another school’s road map for success instead of looking at what has worked at USF - this is probably the #1 thing that sank him

4) Not recognizing issues on the defensive side earlier

Unfortunately, his head coaching career is probably over (or at least will require a long rehab in the coordinator ranks)

His OG OC is pretty **** good. Can't agree with you on this one.

I'm sure they tried to adjust for the talent but when there is no talent what are the options?

They got rid of him and Shoop. At the end of the day he struck out on two straight DC’s. Offense was serviceable, really would like to know how/why he landed on shoop. A choice that changed the trajectory of his career and the program.

I was pointing out the OC that is now at Ole Miss having a lot of success. Rest of your points are valid and good with me.

Been preaching he was horrible forever. We should have fired him a year ago instead of making excuses and we could have already been showing progress and improving  the real culture .

Maybe at Ole Miss, where he has talent to work with and Lane Kiffin calling the shots

IMO he was marginal here, calling complex plays that our offense had no prayer of running effectively

Glad we finally parted ways with this hack of a coach. Best of luck in the future CJS and you got paid way more than you deserve for one FBS win 2 10/12 seasons of football. Best of luck reviving your career back at Clemson. Now time to move on the rock bottom of USF football and find the replacement.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
