The right leadership seems to be in place and the urgency has been created by happenings around us. That’s a bit reactionary and not typically the best approach. But credit Judy Genshaft for getting the university to a place academically where new Prez Law can shift some of the focus to athletics. And if Michael Kelly and his team can put up a record fund-raising number when we’re struggling on the fields/courts, imagine what’s possible if his coaches can get that turned around? The time is now.

Sounds great but need to see it happen before praising failing coaches in the two biggest sports.

Great way to put it. While the priority will always be Academics, Law gets the Athletics part, hopefully taking the hands off approach, doing what she can when asked by those whose job it is to know what needs to be done ...... where, like you said, we have the right leadership.

Both presidents have/had two very different leadership styles...autocrtatic vs democratic. We need the latter type right now to make things happen in athletics.

The hype means nothing if we don't follow through with results on the field.

If we have anything close to a decent defense this season I Bullieve we will win 6 or more games.

Autocratic can work with the right autocrat but JG wasn't the right one at that point. I do think her heart was in the right place when it came to Athletics, just made bad/ill informed decisions in some cases ...

Agreed, but she did want to be the gate keeper too many things for my liking. But if we are able to achieve AAU status at some point, her efforts will be recognized as the most meaningful in attaining that distinction.

If AAU comes then we may end up seeing three conferences fight it out to get USF join their party. ACC, Big12. BigTen..

Two of those three for sure. But running will be key. The decision on AAU is slower than a fat lineman after a turkey dinner.

Did I praise Scott or Gregory? Nope. Time to step up.

You are now a legacy with your daughter and being local you are fully vested.  We appreciate your insight and love for all things USF, not just football (and some hoops).  I am on record we win 6 plus, what is your prognostic?

Thanks, Frisco. That’s kind of you to say. I’ve never been much good at predictions, so yours is as good as mine or anyone else’s. It’s all about QB play in this game. We’ve never won without a competent one - aside from maybe one season with Pat Julmiste when we went to our first bowl game in Charlotte. Having a guy like Bohanon gives us a real chance for the first time since Q. If he stays healthy and the defense is even marginally better than last year, I’m with you - this team can play in a bowl game. My gut tells me we have a win in that trio of BYU, UF or Louisville. If that does happen and we start 2-2, I think 6 wins is almost assured.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
