If Scott and Co. win 4 games he may get a lifetime contract. You would think, in year three, that a bowl game would be likely but it seems like a long shot for this group. Maybe they surprise us. I think many of us are basically not counting 2020 at all because it was barely a season (much like 1996). For many of us, this is really Scott's second season at the helm. Which would mean that 2023 should be a bowl season. That said, I think a bowl in 2022 is still possible. I didn't think it at all possible last season.

He got paid for the year and coached us that year. Stop this nonsense. This is his third year third recruiting class, and year 3 of the Coach jeff scott era. . This is his third year third recruiting class, and year 3 of the Coach jeff scott era. . It is not his 3rd recruiting class. He had 2 months to try and keep whatever recruits CSS had brought on and add a few of his own, but to act like he had a full recruiting cycle in 2020 is BS. Then to dismiss the limitations and challenges that COVID placed on a brand new and young coaching staff is equally BS. Not every team in America was positioned similarly as it related to COVID. It was much easier for teams with continuity to overcome the limitations. The entire Spring was lost and then COVID restrictions made summer conditioning and practicing all the more difficult. Add in the fact that the ability to scout and recruit players was also severely impacted, and it isn't too hard to see what CJS and USF football as a whole has struggled. To act like "everyone" felt similar impacts from COVID and the challenges it presented is truly an idiotic position to take. 3

The disadvantages cjs had was his oc/dc schemes and plays were terrible. They didn't run systems to cater to the players and talent. His recruiting suffered like every single coach that takes over for a fired coach. He signed the players and even brought some guys in that would not be here without him.It sucks that happened his first year but to say it isn't his first season or didn't count is making excuses for failures on the field. Cjs is the youngest coach is usf history and maybe he learned from all of the losses in his first two years on how to improve as a coach and recruiter.

This is his third year third recruiting class, and year 3 of the Coach jeff scott era. . It's barely his second recruiting class, in actuality. 2020 - The transition year where nearly all of the recruits were initially recruited by Strong and his staff. Only a couple of recruits followed Scott from Clemson. Plus when they arrived, practices were severely limited all season... with people having to be quarantined for 10 days if they were just near someone who tested positive. 2021 - COVID restrictions meant: no visits to high schools. no recruit visits to colleges. Now while every coach had the same issues, new coaches who had not been recruiting the state previously did not have a lot of personal experience on which to base decisions. Video tapes and Zoom calls. It's not like Scott saw these kids as juniors, because he was in South Carolina. So of course there weren't many that could make an immediate impact. 2022 - This is the first class that had on-site visits in the fall (for part of the high school season) and official visits to colleges. This is the FIRST "traditional" recruiting class for Scott. You are trying to compare these past three seasons to any "normal" three seasons (see Holtz, Taggart, & Strong). But the reality is these were different, and as such I am choosing to measure them differently... and give Scott a lot of leeway.
