How many P5 programs will come to Tampa to play in a 30K seat stadium?  Are they ok with that, generally speaking?  What's the rust bucket seat?  They had a couple in their thing.

44K and it has a very “minor league” feel and look to it. I think SDSU’s new stadium will feel more “major” league than the rust bucket.

Thanks.  I know it looks like crap.  I suppose ours will look better.

But would say Alabama or Florida want to make a deal in a 30K seat stadium?  We could play those games at RJS as has been pointed out but that sort of is opposite of what we're trying to do.

Well, I guess we won't have to worry about it until 2029.  We may just see a decrease in marquee teams coming to Tampa or to the OCS.

2026 Schedule
Sept. 5 FAU TAMPA
Sept. 12 at Alabama Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Sept. 26 BETHUNE-COOKMAN TAMPA
Oct. 17 at BYU Provo, Utah
2027 Schedule
Sept. 4 MIAMI TAMPA
Sept. 11 at Boise State Boise, Idaho
Sept. 18 FLORIDA A&M TAMPA
Sept. 25 at Northern Illinois DeKalb, Ill.
2028 Schedule
Sept. 2 UCONN TAMPA
Sept. 9 at Miami                          Miami Gardens, Fla.
Sept. 23 TBD TBD
Sept. 30 TBD TBD
2029 Schedule
Sept. 8 TBD TBD
Sept. 15         NOTRE DAME TAMPA
Sept. 22 TBD TBD
Sept. 29 TBD TBD

BIg games can still be played at RJS if necessary... hell, Cincinnati is playing Miami of Ohio at Paul Brown Stadium this September.

If the OCS opens in 2026, the Miami and Notre Dame games in your post could easily by played at Raymond James.

Why not just play conf games at Corbett and OOC games at RayJay then.
IMO, we should be starting at 45k seats unless the BOT knows we are not getting the P5 call up.

Because conference games, FCS games, and G5 OOC games will draw 30-35k... and the bigger games can still draw 50k or more.

All good news!  However, I strongly feel that 40,000 capacity is needed at minimum.  I know attendance is dwindling, TV is king, etc. but I just feel we won't be taken seriously if we build a stadium smaller than that in the upcoming realignment race.  My thinking is to attract high profile OOC programs we need 5k seats for visitor allocation, 20k seats for STH/donors/clubs, 8k -10k for students (who are footing a big chunk of the athletic budget) which leaves zero tickets to sell to casual fans to help build the fan base. And adding 5,000 or 10,000 more seats in the future will be much more expensive than including it in the cost now.  We need to bite the bullet.

GO BULLS!

Visiting teams only get, let's say, 5k tickets.  What do they care what the total # of seats is?

So why penalize the people who make investments in the OCS suites and club seats by pulling the only games that draw fans?

Or they know we can't afford the type stadium we need at 45K capacity ....

I fully understand that and it's been discussed....but then, fewer games in a multi-million dollar stadium?

Have you any idea of the math that would go into making those decisions?  The trade-offs?

Giving our decision makers benefit of the doubt, they've done the math and impact to the gate RJS must be.

Costs only going up Trip.  I know that adding 10k extra seats once the OCS is complete will cost 3X compared to doing it all at once.

I’m not complaining, so fired up for an OCS, just seems that 35k is at least 5-10k short for a B12 level stadium.

sorta like winning the PowerBall lotto but being pissed it’s not a multi week roll-over jackpot…
