Thanks, did a tour 68-69 in Vietnam. BTW GD the C-130 gunships were lifesavers for those of us on the ground. We called them Spooky or Puff. I will never forget the sound they made when they were firing. Most impressive at night, the plane suddenly had flame coming out of it.

Yes, they were used from Viet Nam  until a few years ago.  The new ones are outrageous.  Any airplane with a 105mm howitzer mounted on one side is pretty much bad azz.

Like others, I was too young for VN and served peacetime.  I salute those who didn't have that opportunity.

I second all the thanks on here to our veterans.  I am proud that USF has a strong Office of Veterans Success to support our service men and women. I have had the honor and privilege to work with and donate to support of that program and have met some outstanding American heroes - young and old - over the years. It gives me pride in our past and faith in our country's future.
