This isn't news at all.

Before realignment ceases forever (which in itself sounds like a foolish statement), the P5 has to drop some dead weight. The never were's and never-will-be's. Purdue. Iowa State. Vandy. Kansas. Washington State. Illinois. Maybe N.C. State. Virginia. When they get the boot, that's when realignment will be winding down, if not over. Of all those schools, Kansas is guaranteed to land somewhere on their feet. Their basketball alone carries enough weight to land them somewhere safe. That's when basketball will keep you in a p5.

Good rivalry with FSU and UM. Plus a history of beating North Carolina. I am all for it. 1

The only possible scenario is the Big 12 gets raided and Iowa State is left in the cold. Big 10, SEC, ACC, PAC 12 aren't going anywhere and they're not kicking schools out either. Kansas will never have to worry about finding a landing spot on basketball alone.
