There will be lots of articles like these, based on pretty much nothing other than the author's perception of us.  Don't fret.  And don't get too high if someone is positive about our prospects.  Ride it like a wave

Very sage advice that will likely go on unheeded.

I stopped reading expansion articles long ago. I come only to this board, and I don't even read the realignment links. I'll read the articles that are written after the announcement.

The American Athletic Conference Admins are scheduled to meet tonight. I would think that if the American were to lose 2 teams, they'd have no real reason to meet as they could remain at 10 teams and be fine. However, if they lose 1, 3 or even 4 teams. They'd need to meet to select members to backfill and get ahead of the media blitz by being proactive. It would also help if the teams leaving were leaving next year as opposed to the following year.

What do you guy's/gal's think?

Here's a positive thought that I KNOW has happened.

People will talk about Cincy getting in, and then of that group, somebody will have gone and looked at their football record from last season.

BAM!

USF 65 - Cincinnati 27

"Oh, yeah, I remember seeing that on Sports Center. South Florida... Hmmm!"

If the AAC loses two teams, it messes up the dual conference and Conference Championship Game.  So they'll want to replace schools as soon as possible.  The commish has more or less admitted that the conference keeps a list of schools on speed dial just for such an occasion.

Can anyone explain to me why USF is a long shot but, UCF isn't????? We beat them in almost every category. :angrymob:

Because they have solid leads/sources.

Very similar to how all of the same writers reported that expansion was dead just days before the B12 surprised them all with the expansion news.  Now those same writers suddenly know who the B12 are choosing.

10 teams do not destroy the Championship. With the change that happened in the Championship criteria, a Conference with 10 teams can play a round robin schedule and still hold a Conference Championship game. It could also split into two equal divisions and then hold a Conference Championship game. That's what the Big 12 was expected to do.
