Wonder if the Big 12 was trying to poach him so we we're forced to extend him to keep him?

Sure our situation sucks, but no commissioner was ever going to be able to convince teams not to jump for a bigger conference. The Big 12 commissioner actually ****** some **** up, I could see them trying to poach Aresco and it was either extend him or let him go.

Somebody brought up a good point on twitter ... shows potential teams we have stability.

I think there may be traction to Aresco having convinced some Mountain West schools to come to the American. AF and Colorado State are the best I can speculate. They may want to see the guy that sold them on the idea sick around.

I wonder who else Aresco may be trying to bring into the American. UAB, UTSA, and Rice?

UAB rumors are all over the place.  From what I have seen, they have made a lot of upgrades to their program and are more than ready to move up.  Kind of cool, them being an old basketball rival back in the Sun Belt days.  Wouldn't be surprised to stick with those three at the moment, and then try and expand more once those are settled.  Or just sit and wait.  Kind of cat and mouse with the TV deals as to what will garner the most money.
