Art Briles and Mike Leach agree with you. The rest of this thread does not.

But Bell gave out a playbook. That seems to be Gilbert's #1 shortcoming as a coach, if I'm reading this thread correctly.

Gilbert's number one short cumming as a coach...

I think most people now see why our playbook was probably not the most complex they just haven’t gone back to see that maybe Gilbert was getting about as much out of his team as was available.

Not defending Bell by any stretch of the imagination, but he did inherit a steaming pile.

I would arrive he was putting the pieces pretty close to exactly where they belonged everyone was just mad we didn’t have any triangles and stars.

One could argue that there were more triangles and stars under Gilbert's tutelage than Bells.

This argument would ring less hallow had Sterlin’s offense not been ranked some fifty spots higher than Bell’s. As Sterlin ran with what we had we were mediocre when Bell tried to make them something they were not they were one of the 10 worst offenses in FBS football.

They can argue whatever they would like I am interested in the data to support that between Sterlin’s last year and Bells only year that felt more like a decade.

Well it'll be interesting to watch for me as a Cuse fan (BTW, I like the Bulls too as I live in Pinellas County much of the year).

All I know is that Dino Babers has been trying to get him on his staff for awhile.  Ofcourse any OC looks like a genius with Quinton Flowers.

Again, not defending Bell. But you can manipulate and skewed data anyway you want to paint a picture. We could say that the decline started under Sterling Gilbert. We could also say that Gilbert's numbers were padded because he was playing with Taggart's players.  What are Gilbert's numbers like with his own players and recruits. I bet not that great...

Comparing the two is like asking someone if they would rather eat a dog turd or a cat turd. Either way it's going to be unpleasant.
