I wonder when P5 coords will begin jumping straight to P5 jobs without stopping at nonP5 schools?

Am i missing something?   That's happened plenty, often in the context of internal hires but with plenty of notable examples when its not.

For the big jobs? Internal hires are one thing, but hiring someone else’s coord to be your new HC.... Not as often.

i think that we are getting close to an era where coords and coaches will be interchangeable from an institutional perspective. Also, a time where P5 coords will become more highly sought after then G5 coaches

Depends where you draw the line of big jobs, that is a different set than P5. but UGA, UF, and Tennessee have done it, Miami and FSU although technically Jimbo was internal, he was brought in from the outside to be head coach.

But generally I agree there is a lot more professionalism in the high end of the college game, where the quality of a p5 coordinator is super high now and the challenges of p5/g5 programs are diverging.  To your point, I don't even know Ohio states coaches name

Per MG, xCJL''s hiring was nixed by the Trustees.
