If the conversion had not worked and he would have switched the play would he be a hero?  My instincts tell me this board would have lit him up as not coachable and unable to follow directions.

If the conversion had not worked and he would have switched the play we never would have heard about it ...

Would've been cool anyway. But it doesn't matter as good ole boy Charlie's coaching abilities made it matter not anyways.

Goes back to my original theory that Q coulda won pretty much the same or more games without any coaches at all telling him what to do or how to do it.  I love the crap outta him.

Yeah, I don't think so.

Ironclad proof that QF should be calling his own plays or drawing them in the dirt. I look forward to his long career as an OC after he takes over for Eli Manning next year and knocks out 15 years in the NFL.

This is a ridiculous statement.  Calling a single play is one thing.  Drawing up every play in the dirt like in sandlot ball is never going to work against a modern defense.

Sometimes I wonder, other times I'm sure.

Yet some on this board would have understood him wanting to call an audible. I mean, just how many "Run it up the middle" plays can you watch in a row anyway.

Unfortunately, every single one of them. Usually followed by WTF!

Never will forget when Bears QB called that audible against Vikings and it ended up going for a pick 6. Bears had a 20-0 lead heading into 4th Quarter intil that pick 6 to Anthony Parker. Bears end up losing 21-20 and Iron Mike Ditka was pissed at Harbaugh.
