Fayson isn't coming to USF.  He let that be known last year.  He's looking at UF and MIA.

Doesn't school start VERY soon?  He should make up his mind while he can still go somewhere.

You can say that but...he has to sit out a year either way.  All he has to do is make sure he gets in wherever he's going.  I'm sure he's already gotten his transfer info taken care of...

Not even close.  Fayson runs a veer offense in HS, and averages throwing about 7-8 passes a game.   He's PJ with wheels.   Schaeffer threw for over 2800 yards his senior year in HS, and over 6000 his entire HS career.   Fayson looked good throwing in a few simulated camp drills- big deal so do a lot of kids.   He's ultra fast, very shifty, and has great size but the real potential is probably at another position.  Schaeffer on the other hand has proven to have great poise in a pocket, an excellent throwing motion, touch and timing, and an innate ability when to run and when to scramble for more time.   Schaeffer's truly a rare breed, and will only get better at QB with good coaching.

So would Brent be a class among himself among the current USF QBs or are Hill & maybe Grothe close in talent?  To start QB as a true frosh (18 yr old kid) at TN and be competitive is truly amazing feat.  I believe Brent would be hands down the starter in 2006 unless Hill's arm and his ability to comprehend the USF O system is better than expected.

Brent is in a class of his own.  He's among the top 10 QBs to come out of Florida in the past 10 - 15 years.

Doug, Omni put it best.  I coined the 04 class as having the best class of QB's FL has ever seen.  Xavier Lee, Weatherford, Schaeffer, Bauserman, and Ingram is an unbelievable haul, and even the lesser names that year were great.  Weatherford, Schaeffer, and Lee go down as probably 3 of the best all-time QB's coming out of HS, at least in the past 20 years.  I said during that recruiting season that Weatherford has the potential to be an NFL drop back passer, and Schaeffer is a Cunningham type NFL caliber QB.

No disrespect to the QB's we recruited or who have transfered in but none are the caliber of Schaeffer, nor will they probably ever be.   Now Carlton Hill's a better athlete than Schaeffer (and could be one of the best on the team- consider that Hill's got a vertical of 36 inches, is  a 100m and 200m track champ, stands 6-2 and 185lbs with a rifle for an arm, and can cut on a dime with immediate acceleration), and Grothe might be headier, but Schaeffer is the complete package- case closed.  Hell go look at a tape of the UT game against SC, the kid is flat out a player!

He probably isn't coming, but if he does he automatically makes us a title contender for the Big East in 2006.  It gives us the luxury to moving Denson to FS, or CB, and possibly Hill to WR/RB/Slasher...thereby spreading more athleticism across the team not to mention putting one of the Southeast's best QB's behind center!   I hate getting everyone chopping about his ability but anyone that discounts his talent is crazy.

If Brent does come, then he'd most likely be the man in 2006 and Hill would go to WR (where he may this season also) and GrothE may have to wait until Brent leaves to be QB (which could only be 2 years).

It would be a great QB situation for us.

Go BULLS !!!

Bien (or anyone),

Why do you say he's probably not coming?  With Clemson apparently out of the picture, who is Brent's new favorite?  Seems if he had it narrowed to USF and Clemson, then we'd be a pretty decent bet right now.
