USF is considering another payday game in the future @UF.

Also , Miami seems to now be more open to another home and home series with USF.

Of course, playing and beating any of the P5 Florida schools would greatly improve our chances to get into the playoffs.

In the meantime, all we can do is keep winning against those teams on our schedule and continue to enhance our football reputation.

If we could just dominate the AAC for several years, like Miami did in the BE, we would be well positioned to be selected over the other G5 teams, when the next spot opens up in a P5 conference.

That's the hard part. This isn't the Sun Belt or MAC where there's one or two good teams. USF, UCF, Houston, SMU, and Navy will all have a good chance at the conference championship most years, once Cincy turns themselves back upright (Fickell is recruiting well up there) they will be in contention too. I would suspect that unless Fritz gets scooped up by a bigger school quickly (who knows, if LSU continues to founder they might just hire the young hot guy a few hours south), Tulane will be a good team year in and year out. Even Tulsa or ECU are capable of big things on their days. That's 8 schools that should be ranked in the top 80 most years, if all are having good years top 70. Only UConn and Temple are going to have trouble in football long term but they contribute to the basketball side.

When Miami was in the Big East and dominated they also had some tough competition.

Do you think the AAC is tougher to win now than the BE was when Miami was there?

If so, is that because we are split into two divisions, while the BE was just one?

Miami has not won the ACC championship since they joined. This year seems to be their best chance.

I wonder if anyone has done analysis on the on the field success of the teams that left the BE?

  • Miami
  • Boston College
  • Virginia Tech
  • Pitt
  • Syracuse
  • WVU
  • Rutgers

For that matter - Missouri, Texas A&M and Maryland too.

I wasn't counting them and TCU for some reason.  They were former CUSA teams and I gave them a pass.

Their first job was to hoard the money and the second was increase their power. They did that by removing the BCS model. And then they flexed their muscle with that vote on giving student-athletes payments or whatever they called it. Haven't heard anything on it since the vote, but it showed their complete power over the NCAA.

And then they needed to look ethical doing all of this -hence the money bowl option for the poor schools. "Yeah, we'll invite one of the indigents to party. Though, that indigent is not getting upstairs to the big party!" The reply was a consensus, "Absolutely not!"

As for all other debates like expanding the playoffs and whatnot, that's fodder they could care less about. Anything that has to do with spreading the wealth and opening up opportunities, that's an NCAA indigent's dream!

Why do you think USF should be mentioned?

Wisconsin current SOS #86

USF current SOS #126

Wisconsin Cumulative SOS (counting future opponents) #75

USF Cumulative SOS (counting future opponents) #114

If anybody has a right to complain it would be UCF: Current SOS. 63  Cumulative SOS #47. They have a better SOS than Wisconsin. If UCF goes undefeated, they will likely have a better case than Wisky to get a playoff spot.

Toughest Schedule(10/15/2017 11:45:11 PM)

It's no wonder that in the Massey Composite ranking with 89 systems reporting in at the moment,  Wisky and UCF are near each other and we are far behind them.

The various systems have their own methods for ranking teams.

For example, some count margin of victory, while others don't.

Most are computer systems. But some are done by people, such as the AP and Coaches polls.

I think Massey throws out the best and worst ranking for each team, so that one system doesn't skew the results too much.

In any event, with such a large number of systems included, it provides a reasonable way to determine ranking:

#8 Wisconsin

#11 UCF

#23 USF

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
