Louisville played a big part in usf being in the big east in the first place. Nothing but love for them. Us getting to the acc b12 was always a monster long shot. We were in over our heads in the big east as it was.

I don't think USF was over its head in the Big East.

In Football attendance USF was one of the top three in the conference in most years.

We were in the middle of the pack in football.

The only sport that we were "bad" at was MBB and even in that we made it to the dance one year.

Leavitt thought it would take two more recruiting classes to build up enough depth for us to be a top yearly contender in the BE, at the time he was dismissed. I agreed with him.

MBB also just needed more time to build it up to a respectable level.

We just ran out of time to reach our full potential, before it imploded.

If the Big East was still in existence, I think we would have improved our position in the conference in most sports.

I thought they were proponents of us moving with them from the Metro to CUSA but wasn't real sure about the move to the BE ...

I think it was considered common knowledge that UL advocated for USF membership in the Big East at the time.

There still may be posts and possible links to stories about that in the archives here.

It would make sense that the Big East and UL in particular would want a continued recruiting presence in Florida, having lost UM to the ACC. Plus, we were in a good TV market.

Only if you want to be dirty as hell.

Howie, wait, am I missing something here? I thought we have an AD.

He got fired for not performing his duty. That never looks good on a resume.

Don't you mean escorts instead of strippers?

I thought he was just "suspended" since that was the whole point of the article.

I don't believe they have yet made a final determination on what to do about him.

If he does get fired for just refusing to fire their BB coach and he still wants to be an AD somewhere else, I think there would still be a number of schools willing to hire him.
