Regarding Qs speed… What I notice is that as he starts to run down field, there are defenders everywhere. Vs last year with the golf coast offense and how the receivers were more spread apart and we're down Field last year? I don't know, it just seems like Q has no room to run.

A lot of that is defensive coaches defending against Q running.  Because he's a threat to run and pass, the secondary has to maintain assignments even when he's on the move.  So not a lot of people over committing this year because he is a dual threat.  There are three years of tape on Q, it's not going to be as easy unless he's doing what he's doing, getting better.  That said, there is no indication he's slowed or that the downfield blocking has gotten worse.  His rushing numbers through the first three games this season is better than last seasons.  We are actually having more explosive plays this season than last... at least as of beating Illinois.   Down field blocking has been excellent.

First 10 quarters of the season... QF was bottled up, not having a lot of fun... last 2 quarters, he seemed to have felt more freedom and thus started having more fun. It looked like to me that the coaches were telling him to pick a lane, get what he can get, and go down. In the second half last week, he started bouncing around and changing direction a bit to free himself up more. He's always had a knack for avoiding big hits, so, he's going to get down when it's appropriate, but, he wasn't changing direction very much until last game.

I think 95% of our sets were 4 wide 1 Rb.   I think Sterling has found a happy medium between Gulf Coast and the Veer and shoot.

I think the last drive of the second half with Q scoring with no time left was when the joy kicked back in.

Would you be surprised if I told you Flowers numbers through the first three games are better this season than last?

Not at all, I remember that he struggled early in the season last year with accuracy. Mack helped in 2 of those games as well and Tice went "beast mode" on NIU. Honestly, I know some get sensitive about mentioning the drops, but, we have well over double-digit drops in 3 games this year, so, it's hard to judge Flowers' numbers... he may look like a phenom if those balls are caught (or a high percentage of them). As you said, his numbers are nothing to hang his head about, but, the look isn't what we all expected coming off of last year. Having said that, I wasn't in the panic crowd after 2 games, new coaching staff and offense, it was going to take a little time to come together.

I am not at all worried about Q, I just thought I saw a change in his demeanor in the game on Friday, likely as sanjay said, on that last drive of the half. Like his sophomore year, I think Q is likely having to tell the coaches that he can put the team on his shoulders and they are going to have to trust him. I'd much rather lose a game because they give him the reigns and he fails than lose one where he isn't allowed to improvise and make things happen because he's following the coaches' game plan.

His face really lights up when he smiles. Saw it a couple of times Friday, hadn't seen it all season before then.

Gotta let the big dog eat!!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
