They will pull out the old playbook and watch last year's games to see what worked and didn't. "We aren't calling the right plays." Option two: Blame the O-line and execution. "The plays are fine. It's the O-line. We need a meeting with everybody on the O-line." My hope is that the players, players like QF, Tice and D.J., are comfortable enough with the coaches to tell them it's the plays being called. I hope CCS learns that soon.

Agreed. When you're average lineman is 6'4" and 308 lbs, and your not running over Stony Brook, that means: Strength and conditioning is bad or technique is bad or Stony Brook has a good DL. Maybe some combination of those 3, but, they were playing in our backfield. That really hinders anything you try to do on offense.
Publix Substitution Posted September 5, 2017 Group: Member Topic Count: 3 Content Count: 109 Reputation: 27 Days Won: 0 Joined: 07/02/2013 Share Posted September 5, 2017 Now that I've had some time to rest on it I think that the play calling was different for these first 2 games than it will be the rest of the season. The coaching staff probably wanted to run basic plays for 3 reasons. 1) Our team has more talented players. Basic plays and running down the middle SHOULD have worked better than it did. 2) Limit turnovers. Turnovers would be the only reason that we lost these games. We did succeed at this. 3) Keep play calling basic since the season is early and the coaching staff is new. I expect to see riskier and more complex play calling now that the competition level is increasing and we've had some games under our belts.
