A power -- but not necessarily ball-control -- run game lulls defenses to the box, creating mismatches out wide. And if linebackers get sucked into trying to stop the run, well, tight ends can find themselves quarantined. Moreover, Gilbert is a proponent of having his players execute without thinking, a process he has termed "mind-muscle memory." Such a philosophy, of course, doesn't lend itself to a thick playbook.Which might explain why the Bulls have no playbook. Quarterbacks have said Gilbert diagrams a play, and they copy it down themselves." Full story

Kevin Sumlin uses a very simple playbook, multiple routes, options from same play call depending on the defense. Worked for him at Houston okay at Texas A&M. Apparently simple for offensive players to grasp quickly but hard to defend. Edited August 16, 2017 by Gismo

Also, reference Mike White. See how well he did at USF? With that being said, I don't think much can hold Q back.

Remember when the average was like 295 a few years ago - probably why the pro style didn't work for Tags. Good to see that 310-320 range up front though. Definitely going to be one of our strengths this season.
