Is our 2017 schedule really as bad as it seems?

You got it backwards

13-0 gets us in talks for the Peach

Two losses by everybody else gets us in talks for the playoffs.

I'm dreaming but wouldn't that be amazing if that happened???

We have to stay ranked. (Lose a game and they most likely will drop us out of the polls.)

If we are ranked at the end of the season, the bowl will be pretty good.

-------------

If we blow other teams out left and right, and if teams ahead of us get upset (like in 2007), watch out! --We will get a lot of attention. Why? Some in the media still love our Coach.

But keep in mind, we beat Auburn on the road and WVU who were really a national darling at the time.

We truly deserved that ranking based on our record.  Even the computers agreed.

You are right!! I am going to predict USF gets into the playoffs as maybe the 3rd or 4th seed. Should be higher but I believe the Fake News media will hold us back

Keep in mind, this schedule wasn't originally planned this way. Back in August of 2015 Wisconsin approached us and asked us to move our 2017 home opener with them back to 2019 so they could play a game at BYU.

So this is BYU's fault. We then turned around and replaced that with a home and home against UMass. Not sure if that is the best we could get at that point. We did have a road game to sign and that ended up being San Jose State.

So I can't say we did a bang up job replacing the Wisconsin game but in the beginning, this 2017 schedule did have Wisconsin on it which would make it a much better schedule.

scheduling has always been a problem.too many lower tier teams on our schedule

if you want respect you need to play and beat the big boys

Yes, Yes it is.

You can debate why it got there (Wisonsin pushing the return game back)  but what we are slated to play is an awful schedule.

That is the key really... If we go undefeated and QF continues to ball out like last year, we'll get more respect than the TEAM probably deserves. If we go undefeated/QF continues to be a stud, he's in talks for the Heisman. Those talks lead to team hype, that hype leads to a jump in the rankings. Our only hope is that the offense continues to average 40+ and the defense steps up to make that give us 20+ pt wins.

Yes and as much as perception shouldn't matter it does. Charlie Strong is a coach everyone is talking about; if he has success, regardless of the schedule and QF balls out they will be talking about USF and that'll help.

There is no excuse for playing Stony Brook, UMass, and SJSU in the same year. What meager amount of money we're going to get from having Stony Brook and UMass at home this year is essentially burned by playing the game itself. The minute this year looked like it might be something special, we should have been on the phone with every AD in the country begging for a game. Even a one and done with a legit team on the road is better option than either of those two teams at home. I refuse to believe there wasn't one decent team in the entire country who wouldn't have agreed to play us this year.
