Is our 2017 schedule really as bad as it seems?

Below is a link to CBS sports which ranked us at #19. Houston, Temple, Navy and Tulsa are in the top 36.  Memphis is at #45. Our out of conference schedule sucks, but our conference schedule can actually save us. I know these aren't the official rankings but they are close enough. That being said,  Those are 4 teams that can be ranked this year depending on how their season plays out.  These teams all play some P5 teams that have a great history but are quite beatable this year. Unfortunately, we will pretty much have to root for all AAC teams to beat their OOC opponents. That being said, looking through my green and gold goggles, the playofffs can't be ruled out this year. It will just take a lot of help from our AAC brethren  and a whole bunch of  parity in the P5 world this year.

Yes it happens, there's nothing that can be done about it. Still need to go out and WIN. Oh and always root for the conference in OOC games.... except C.

There's a site out there somewhere that have pre season SOS's because I think I recall an opponent's troll tried to use them here about halfway thru the season last year to validate some nonsense, like they had some sort of relevancy at that point.

Keep in mind, this schedule wasn't originally planned this way. Back in August of 2015 Wisconsin approached us and asked us to move our 2017 home opener with them back to 2019 so they could play a game at BYU.

So this is BYU's fault. We then turned around and replaced that with a home and home against UMass. Not sure if that is the best we could get at that point. We did have a road game to sign and that ended up being San Jose State.

So I can't say we did a bang up job replacing the Wisconsin game but in the beginning, this 2017 schedule did have Wisconsin on it which would make it a much better schedule.
