Florida has a good high school program, and it ranks among the most difficult sports of all. Few martial arts are as practical as a strong wrestling background. The difficulty of a college match is on par with rugby.Florida schools used to have teams. Cutting them was total !@#$, and was done to cut corners to comply with title ix. One of the oldest and most practical sports seemingly has no place at all here. I don't get it. I can not think of a single sport that requires MORE athleticism. Strength, speed, judgment, and skill all come into play. And then we talk about bowling as a "sport". News flash: bowling and table tennis and pool are all GAMES, not sports. Lifting and rolling a 14-16lb ball is something any healthy adult should be able to do. Don't get me wrong, I like all 3 of these examples personally, but it was a sad day indeed when they are televised on ESPN as SPORTS, and then a 200+ pound woman is shooting pool in some tournament. Call it what it is...a game.

Swimming and diving would just be my first choice.

(USF has had a crew club for some time). The Hillsborough River downtown is a great place to crew -- so is the bypass canal. In fact, there has been talk of building a facility along the bypass canal sometime in the near future to bring national and international rowing meets to Tampa. As for Title IX -- I think USF can start two women's sports for each men's sport (i.e. field hockey & both lacrosse... or women's rowing & both swimming/diving)... etc.
