Just don't stop the game clock - except for scoring plays or major injuries requiring the cart or a stretcher - until the final two minutes of each half. Then go back to the currently existing clock rules. Commercials only between periods or between a score and the subsequent kickoff Games will be under 2.5 hours, maybe under 2 hours

That would reduce the plays and reduce the entertainment. It's like I'm going to buy a ticket for something I want to see, but please give me less of it

LOTR seemed short at 3+ hours per movie, while The Hobbit dragged at 2.5. Would have been much better at under 2 #jussayin

Most games dont feel long to me. The easiest way to reduce game time is to do the unthinkable and reduce commercial breaks. A quick google search shows anywhere from 50-60min of commercials depending on the time slot of the game, with actual game time being closer to 2 hours. This does include halftime. If they feel it is absolutely necessary to mess with game play, they could put in a minimum play clock in place when the clock is running, IE you cant snap the ball until at least 15 seconds runs off. Teams like USF lengthen games by snapping the ball and creating more plays, thus more times to stop the clock for incomplete passes, scores, etc... While we are all smoking pot and messing with stuff that doesnt need to be messed with, what about no holding calls if it is a running play to a Running Back in between the tackles? Keep other blocking infractions, but eliminating holding on inside runs would maybe encourage more north south game.

LOL Look guys, if we want football to stay relevant to the Twitter and Vine Generation, we've got to make it shorter. Rugby, even cricket, have discovered this, so will gridiron. If it was a 30 or 40 game season, it would be a huge problem. I blame TV timeouts more than anything else. Definitely too many of those.
