3 straight bowls, played for conference championship a couple of times, he's been fairly successful yet you don't hear his name ever come up for P5 openings. I believe it was the USF fail that causes this which is a good indication that perhaps Strong may be with us a little while even if successful.

I was thinking the exact same thing.  Why isn't he mentioned all the time when a P5 job opens up?  I think USF fans are not the only ones that think Skip did a lousy job at USF and can't handle the next level.

That may work in our favor if Strong turns out to be the coach we are all hoping he will be.

Skip Holtz failed miserably at USF and cratered our program,  period. No amount of success before or after will change that. We can go over the factors and debate what he could and couldn't control for the millionth time but that's what his legacy at USF will be. I wish no ill will on the guy but his tenure at USF is what it is.

This is all. Good for him, he's a good man so I'm glad to see him rebound, but USF is better without him.

Skip Walnuts is an average coach at best benefiting from low entrance standards.

Skippy Walnuts is an ex-USF MBB player, not an ex coach:

Honestly not sure what Skip has brought to La Tech, but that's an impressive resume. Sometimes it's really hard to turn around your fortunes and perception to the larger schools. Plus you never know, programs might believe he is only good in C-USA.
