Strong isn't the type to go for the kill shot either.   How will he handle 4th and short? That was huge for Willie.   Our defense was terrible so I'm hoping for a lot of progress.

Exactly.  I don't want to lose that edge.  I'm afraid we will.  Taggart went for the kill.  Heck, he would go for it on 4th down on our side of the field sometimes.  On the opponent's side of the field it was automatic to go for it on 4th and 1.

That was only after his job was on the line and the players urged him to open it up.

Hopefully the guys can convince Strong to keep things going in the same direction.

If he can get the defense to have that kind of killer instinct and get teams off the field when they have offenses in advantageous 3rd down situations they will earn their own rest.  Hopefully after talking to the team he figures out that the reason we were able to get things to where they were was being wide open on offense.

Defense lacked the energy they had with Allen...we saw energy first half of Navy and they did well.

We need a energetic DC.

We're a lower division team that wants to move up. CCS has never been in this situation.

We NEED to score quickly and often

We NEED to get more 3-n-outs and Takeaways

We NEED to outscore our opponents by an average of 4-5 TD's per game and get style points

Charge up the D, don't eff with the O.

He was in a similar spot at Louisville.

As long as we have depth at D this can work...but we have never had depth at D.

That's on recruiting - hopefully Strong can make this happen.

BTW, speaking of Hope Strong (and Hailee), CCS's daughters are HOT!

CSS ran a pretty fast offense with TB at Louisville and won a lot. If he slows it down it won't be too drastic.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
