only reason we haven't cut this dead weight clown loose is the financial implications of his termination, no?

No, IMO, it's early in the season and firing him now would send a wrong message to any potential hires.

In basketball, you need someone that can recruit nationally and internationally.  Both FSU and UF only have 5 guys each from Florida.

Florida is sparcely populated with Div 1 basketball talent. Anyone who coaches here has to be able to recruit the East Coast.
