Indeed, it is. Would you care to elaborate? To be clear, I don't have an opinion on Butch Davis. Just know that he was recently hired by FIU and has been mentioned as a candidate here in the past. Screw it, lets go double retread and get xCJL and GOL on the same staff. Even if things go sideways we might get to see a fist fight on the sideline! He did a great job at Louisville. However when he took the Texas job he was facing headwinds right from the start. I'm not sure he had the full support of the entire Texas athletic community behind. So I don't think he had a completely fair shot there. It was obvious that his players respected him and played hard for him to the end. Also he was at a disadvantage recruiting in Texas. He will have a much easier time using his Florida connections to get good athletes to USF then he did getting them to Texas .

USF is not going to win recruiting choir boys, Butch Davis can recruit and harness the potential of borderline players

His worst B12 recruiting class was 2ND in the conference. He had the most funds to work with in the conference. The easiest access to recruits in the conference. They sucked and still brought in classes ranked in the top two of the conference. Yet get beat by Kansas, a team little ole USF would destroy and fired. That would be on par with USF losing to FAMU last season. I'll pass. Edited December 8, 2016 by PCBull14
