I remember an interview with the Uconn coach regarding this, and he pretty much said that as a coach, you'd do anything and everything imaginable to fire up your team regardless of how anyone outside the team sees it. But, in this case, I think the wise thing to do is retire (e.g. Northeast Recyclers, 48 Boston Post Road, Willimantic, CT 06226) this little keepsake and pretend it never happened.

They should of made a rivalry with us instead. We seem to play close games with them. We would of took the trophy. UCF has some nerve thinking they to good to partake in a friendly rivalry. It's cool, UCONN shall get their revenge.

UCONN didn't do enough to piss UCF off, as a team stomp on their logo during warm ups, then some cheap shots early in the game. Boom, instant rivalry

I believe the whole misguided thing involved Diaco trying to shoot for a rivalry with the defending conference champions so his team could aspire to that. We were coming off of 2-10 when that happened.

UCF is a bunch of dicks.  At least take the trophy and throw it in the locker room trash can.  I hate when people leave their trash behind for others to clean up.
