I've always thought CBS ran the most intelligent poll.

I agree. The CBS rankings have always seemed more competent to me. It's well done.

Polls this early in the season matter and they've clearly done their homework.

Have to facepalm with Ole Miss being ranked at 1-2. Yeah, I get it, you "hung" with Bama, but you collapsed on FSU, who's loss doesn't look so great anymore. I get there are some SoS measures, I just hate that they can't just start ranking undefeated teams in the first 3-4 weeks, and if you're 1 loss, you hang around the #25-30 mark until the others lose. But I guess it is what it is. I try to take the first 3-4 weeks of rankings like preseason ones, they shouldn't mean squat (but unfortunately, they help prop up rankings for later in the season).

Ole Miss squandered leads against FSU and Bama; they just fold with turnovers at the most inoppurtune time. To be fair, that is against two top five teams (at the time of play.) I agree with scrapping the rankings every week and starting anew imo, but that'll never happen. Teams will slide

USA Today poll has USF at

#22

What is a 're-rank', anyways?

His first one kind of explains it, the rankings are compared to the previous rankings (last week, or last season if applicable)  Pre-season, "Re-rank"

Rece Davis put us #15 on Twitter for possible Playoff teams.

Four to watch: 13. FSU (better than this but deserve a big drop) 14. Nebraska 15. USF (my belief in them tested this week) 16. Fla/Tenn

Tennessee did crush Virginia Tech, you can't just ignore that. I don't think they're as good as the hype (top 10), but they're still a pretty good team that hasn't lost since last October.

I have to admit...I did overlook that.  Guess I was focused on the App St (especially after UM blew them out), and was thinking VT was underwhelming...but admit I'd forgotten they played.

It's far too early to get excited, and UF v UT will work that out soon enough.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
