I truly love the beginning of the football season...it's like going to a party.  Everybody's dressed nice, laughing, and merrily drinking.  Let's hope our expectations for the team doesn't turn out to be too high, or else by the end of the season, everybody's throwing up picking fights and looking like they've drank way too much heavily spiked KOOL-AID.

A year and a half ago, you'd get shouted down here for not grabbing your pitchfork and calling for the firing of everyone. Now you get shouted down if you say anything that is not overwhelmingly positive. Such is life on the internet.

Embrace the expectations, if they aren't met the world still goes on. A 2017 season  still exist as far as I know.

People naturally try to avoid trending toward extremes for many reasons,  i.e. being wrong, being disappointed, looking foolish, being judged by others, etc. I say,  as PCBull14 has said,  "Embrace the expectations.."  Be a fanatic, aka A FAN!
