If not the playoff at least both USF and UH would get to go to a New Years 6 bowl if both are ranked high enough

I think those bowls get to select the team, so there's no way either team would get picked over the other P5 teams. It's 1 or nothing.

Ah, okay. It would suck to be in the top 10 and not get selected for a good bowl...

I might feel slighted and I know what you're saying, but I'd take all that disappointment and more to be in the top 10.

I came over to see USF fans reaction to the 2016 class. Most of us in Houston think it will be our two schools contending for the AAC title over the next few years. With USF starting to pull in 4 star talent and UH with 2 5 stars on the roster (Allen/Oliver) I think this is a good time for both programs to crush some out of conference foes on the national scene.

Good luck against FSU this year...they love falling to AAC powerhouses! AAC>ACC

Your president, Renu Khator, also came from USF. Your welcome. :D

She was my political science professor for two courses back in the day. Tough as nails that one...

Actually went to look up what the qualifiers for the NY6 Bowls were and it looks like this:

"Rose Bowl — Big Ten #1 vs. Pac-12 #1

Sugar Bowl — SEC #1 vs. Big 12 #1

Orange Bowl — ACC #1 vs. SEC #2, Big Ten #2, or Notre Dame

Cotton Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)

Fiesta Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)

Peach Bowl — at-large or "Group of Five" (committee selection)

The highest-ranked champion from the "Group of Five" conferences (The American, C-USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, and Sun Belt) is guaranteed a berth if the group's top team is not in the playoff.

The remaining five at-large bids are determined by committee rankings."

So it appears. At least in theory, that multiple G5 teams could go to NY6 bowls in those at large spots if they were ranked high enough and chosen by the committee that way, but in actuality that would be a tall order. I imagine both teams would have to start the year in the top 25 and proceed to either go undefeated or close to it. UH with one loss was only able to climb to #18? But interesting to see it's technically possible.

Technically possible, but specifically built around the flawed premise that a group of people can subjectively identify the 12 best teams in the country.
