Another thing that non-Buc fans don't realize is that Lovie had final say over roster/personnel, so it's not like he was GIVEN one defensive pick.  He also was given carte blanche to bring in guys that fit his scheme, which he did, and almost every single player he brought in failed miserably.

Koetter has plenty of OC experience in the NFL, he's ready to be a coach.

Yeah your right he had personal say...I think if he had another draft it would have been mostly defense this year.

Glazers don't have a good track record with hires the last 6 years we shall see.

As long as he gets a solid DC and get talent on defense from draft  team could be in ok shape

If Koetter goes elsewhere, this is a huge disaster... But that is Bucs tradition

That's what happens when you're supposed to be a, "defensive guy" and the defense goes from mediocre when you got here, to bad in your first year, to awful this past season.

Not just that ... bad in his  first year, and awful after he took complete control over it.

I'm so confused with these coordinators taking over jobs of the HC that was just fired.

Well, in the Bucs' case, the offense was good and the defense was bad, really bad.  Lovie was supposed to be a defensive guy.

The offense was decent.  #20something ranking in scoring

They were exactly #20 at 342 pts; although I don't know if you can really argue with that stat being in the bottom 40% of the league it means they were decent.  Better offensive stats to support a "decent" assessment would be YPG, #5 in the league at 376/g, and 3DownConv at 42%, #10 in the league.  Where this all went in the crapper (among other areas) was TOP at 29:00, which was ranked #26 and of course not solely on the offense (especially with that 3rd down conversion rate).

The offense was darn near the only reason the Bucs won 6 games.  Koetter is one of those "QB whisperers" we keep hearing about.  Keeping him on is great for Jameis Winston.  It's just going to depend on whom they can bring in to run the defense.  I keep hearing it will be Mike Smith, the former Falcons HC.  Not a bad move.
