  1. If RPI and other factors are being taken into consideration why in the world are Army and UCONN in the mix? This seems to be an arbitrary decision without significance. I wouldn't read into it too much.
  2. I read the quote, but I didn't see the question that was asked. The question he was answering matters. Not saying that CWT is right or wrong, but I always love to see the actual text of the question that was asked, not just the response.
  3. I really don't know how Bench supporters can look at his prior performances and not at least concede that he gives us the exact same chance of winning a game as Flowers. If that is accurate, and I believe it is, don't you go with the one that has 2 years of eligibility remaining after this season?
  4. How do you know what he is going to say in October at his press conference? Are you some sort of time-traveling wizard?
  5. Careful what you wish for.................. Edsall is changing to a better, more experienced QB to try and get a win. If his risk pays off with a win and CWT stays with QF and loses, who do you think wins the argument? Edsal had a reason to make the change. We are still trying to figure out who gives us the best chance to win. If QF struggles, you better believe Bench will get his chance. QF had a below average game against FSU but he did take care of the football. That is where Bench struggles. What? He threw an interception in the endzone and had at least one dropped pick 6. I would not call that taking care of the football. If SB gets derided for a Maryland game where he had one INT and 8 catchable drops, QF should likewise get derided for giving away 6 points, nearly providing 6 points and having 1 in 13 third down efficiency. You can't compare QBs from different games. FSU's defense this year will likely end up much higher ranked than Maryland's in 2014. Why can't everyone sit back, relax, and see how it all plays out? Bench got his chance last year and didn't seize the opportunity. QF is just now getting his chance and, thus far, has won a game he was supposed to and lost one he was supposed to. This will be a make or break game for him.
  6. Just email Harlan and let him know how many hundreds of thousands of dollars you are willing to kick in for his buyout.
  7. This. I have been to most of the hot games referenced on here and this is the hottest I can remember being in my life.
  8. Quite honestly, the team is the one that can reverse the apathetic trend. Tampa is a front-running, bandwagon town and has shown time and time again that it will support a winner if given the opportunity. Beating FSU on Saturday will go a long way in putting butts in the seats the rest of the season.
  9. I'm part of, and probably representative, of the problem. I am a die-hard USF fan, but I couldn't bring myself to drop the money on tickets, travel to Tally, sit in the heat, and endure what (based upon past seasons) will most likely be a lopsided affair. I admit it, the glory days of yore spoiled me. Being able to go to Auburn, FSU, ND, UNC, and the like and come away with big victories against brand name opponents created an expectation that has not been met in quite some time. It's like going to a nice restaurant for years and getting great food and excellent service. Then, everything changes for the worst and the quality drops. Why would anyone keep going to the restaurant? I still go to the home games, but I just can't take traveling and spending real money to watch an inferior product. With that being said, I hope I am completely regretting not going up to Tally on Saturday. Make me eat crow USF, I beg you!
  10. I didn't know Watson and Flowers were tight. They very well could have been, but I think he is more or less referring to the tremendous amount of personal loss and tragedy that QF has experienced throughout his life. He could relate to anyone on that issue and knows how to begin to deal with the associated emotions.
  11. I'm surprised that USF had a section entirely devoted to fans with faulty staffs!
  12. It was a transformative moment in that director's life.
  13. My guess is they will contain Flowers and Mack and make Flowers beat them with his arm. At least that is what I would do. 7 to 8 in the box, single coverage on the outside. Hopefully, Dillon continues to shine and shows chemistry with Flowers, as it would be nice to get him into isolation with a LB.
  14. Ricky, Feeling uncomfortable and being murdered/shot/stabbed are two different things. If there were a string of violent crimes and murders at University Mall, I would certainly hope the community, USF included, would speak out on the issue and the need to improve things. I would also hope that USF would have the safety and best interests of its student body in mind and would issue a safety notice/warning/advisory. If you are taking issue with "banning" players from Ybor, I can understand that to a certain degree. Taggart was speaking emotionally and was put on the spot during a telephone interview. The perfect answer would have been that he was going to use this as a painful and powerful teaching moment for his players and advise them on making smart decisions as to where they go, who they associate with, and how they react to certain situations. However, I completely understand the emotion and passion that came into play. The perfect answer for Harlan would have been much different than how it appears he handled the situation. Likewise, Gonzmart could have approached it in a better manner than tweeting his displeasure on social media. He is too connected to USF athletics and has too much power to stoop to that level. If you have a problem in your family you solve it within your family, not publicly. Ultimately, I hope this is something that serves as a learning moment for ALL parties involved; players, staff, coaches, ADs, and donors. I also hope it blows over and doesn't remain a story or distraction any longer than today. We have a pretty **** big football game coming up on Saturday that I want us to win! One of my last posts before shutting this down last night posed the following. Seems to have been deleted, Briefly, Was this the first murder in Ybor? Obviously not. So why NOW is this an issue? If player/student safety is the issue here, then why were they EVER allowed to go to Ybor? I had linked an article from 2013 in which there was a murder. Believe Taggart was around back then. So why now? Because it directly affected a USF former player. A little late to ban then doncha think? All those parents at the grammar school in CT should start home schooling? It just goes on and on. Banning is not the answer. Curfew? Probably. Because when something hits close to home it becomes a priority. Look around the world of politics, **** Cheney wasn't for gay marriage until his daughter came out as a lesbian, numerous politicians were against stem cell research until they had a loved one afflicted with a rare, deadly disease. Such is human nature. When something hits close to home, it strikes a cord. If both of your loved ones killed in car accidents (I'm sorry about your loss) were killed by drunk drivers, I imagine your feelings towards drunk driving would be much stronger than they were if you had never lost someone to such a tragedy. It might even lead to you speaking out publically against drunk drivers. Just because you didn't speak out before it hit close to home doesn't mean you should lose your right to do so. Taggart answered a question that was posed to him spur of the moment during a press conference. I don't think anyone here is debating the common sense in advising players to avoid Ybor City in the context in which Elkino's death sadly occurred; late at night, at a club, in an area of town known to have numerous stabbings/shootings/murders. I imagine you will not be encouraging your loved ones to visit Ybor after midnight anytime soon. In fact, I think Elkino's death might lead you to be even more sensitive to the topic. I like how Richard Cheney's nickname gets blocked out. If only US history had the same blocking capabilities!
  15. Sounds like the press conference went well. All good in the USF family. Now time to heal after Elkins's death and get ready to play inspired football at FSU!
  16. I agree that there are differences within the two offensive schemes, but it is not as if Motley wasn't getting any reps. He was in on designed plays and was clearly the teams backup QB option. I'm just saying that skill set wise they arrive similar and both OSU and FSU obviously have some athletes and playmakers on defense. Should be interesting to see how QF does.
  17. Watching the OSU v. VT game last night, I was able to see young Brenden Motley come in to the game as QB when VT's starter went down with a painful injury (broken collarbone). I saw a lot of QF in watching Motely in that game. Like QF, no other college wanted him as a QB and he was considered a good athlete out of high school. (Both were 3 Star/5.5 rated). His numbers against OSU were serviceable (4/9 for 36 yards, 1 TD, I INT; 7 carries for 17 yards). I could see QF having a similar type of game against FSU. Something in the 10/20 for 120 yards, 1 TD 1 INT range. I don't think that type of performance would be enough to win (without our running game and defense creating a lot of points), but I wonder how everyone on here would react if that is the type of day that he has?
  18. Ricky, Hope the youngin' feels better. Also, please don't take anything I say as a personal attack. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I was simply trying to respond to your questions to help you better understand the "other side" of this discussion.
  19. If the re-appearance of ET, T-Man, and ____ Eats It (in addition to my increased activity on the board) doesn't prove that USF football is back on the right track, I don't know what does!
  20. Well, there you go. That would explain why it was a non-issue. Although, I do think that the coaching staff for FAMU wasn't clear on the rule either, as that most likely was the reason they called the timeout and delayed everything following the touchdown pass.
  21. I thought the same thing when I saw it live. Upon seeing the highlight again and watching it as best I could, I could not definitively say that the ball touched the ground. It was definitely close, but I think he might have avoided contact with the ground. I'm just relieved that the call wasn't challenged/reversed, as it created a confidence and momentum boost that led to the blowout victory.
