  1. Sounds like the NC State bowl game several years ago in Charlotte. We had great seats, but it was basically a home game for them.
  2. If Strong had been successful at UT I would agree with you, but now he's a rebuild and it's possible. It's not a sure-in no-brainer. But it's possible.
  3. You mean this one? Yeah... he's featured pretty prominently in the marketing.
  4. Yup. Between all of the "#BayMade" talk and Willie's picture on EVERYTHING that the program does (have you see the bowl game marketing?), this is going to be a very hard sell to the kids on the team.
  5. Yup. We are now officially a stepping-stone school.
  6. I can't fault him, but.... It is very possibly just me, but College Football is slowly dying to me. The inequalities of the haves vs. have-nots is quickly taking all of the joy out of the sport for me. In the space of a week, the AAC has now lost ALL THREE of its top coaches. I'm slowly concluding that it's basically impossible for any of the G5 schools to get into "big time" football because no one else wants any more "P5-level" schools. Not the media companies, not the other schools, and not the other fans. Basically, the only people who want G5 schools to move "up" are those very G5 schools and they have no actual power to make it happen. So the G5 schools are now stuck in a system where they will be continually poached for coaching talent... over and over and over again. This will ensure that the P5 schools keep getting an influx of good young coaches, and it will ensure that the top-level G5 schools will stay there in the G5.
  7. UF is ranked at 15 so that they can give them a good preseason ranking next year.
  8. If CWT left he would be my first call...
  9. I've heard USF is just waiting for the Ray to move out of the Trop so that they can buy it and convert it to a football stadium.
  10. That doesn't seem fair to me. It's the hand we've been dealt and a few of those could be good games (Illinois, Cincy, Houston, and Temple). Due to the structure of the P5/G5 system the ugly truth is there will likely be much fewer FSU/UF/Miami/WV/Louisville-level games here. That's just the way it is. If we can't get people to come to the games that we are playing we either need a smaller building or to just get out of the football thing.
  11. Honestly 12-0 is a possibility next year, but that schedule is so week (in a strength-of-schedule way) that there is no way we would get into the championship game series without: 1) Winning every game by 50. 2) EVERY "traditional" team having at least 1 lose. 3) EVERY "traditional championship-level" team having at least 2 losses.
  12. I agree that it's crazy we can't get more positive local-media coverage. However..... The sad truth is that at a time when we have more students living on campus than ever before it is unacceptable for the kids to not be at those games. It's incomprehensible to me. I'm not sure if it's a generational thing or something else, but when I see figures like those or when I see empty seats in the student section at home football games I just don't understand. I lived on campus at a time when we were still mostly a commuter school, and many of us went to darn near every game. I just don't get the apathy.
  13. Talent is the difference. I'd love to see a count of how many sweeps and screens we've run per game this year. We have some very physically gifted guys and we get them the ball as often and as quickly as possible. That's the secret sauce this year.
  14. Honestly with the money situation in college football being what it is, BD likely wouldn't stay here any longer than he would stay at FIU. Our best option would be another young coach trying to make a name for himself.
  15. The flip side of this is that as little time as the newspaper gives USF, the local TV channels give it even less. The channel 10 and channel 8 morning shows pretty much never mention USF sports even exists. They run (admittedly very short) pieces on UF and FSU on occasion, but almost never mention USF.
  16. This is basically the same issue with ESPN pushing for Pitt entry into the ACC during the Big East negotiations. They (ESPN and Pitt) played both sides of the game at the same time.
  17. Right now 90% of the passes are either screens or bombs down the field. It's a bit frustrating to watch, but it's working.
