A bowl game this year would give us an opportunity to build for something nice the next season. However I do notice there is an "or" at the QB position, looks like Willie isn't ready to declare his starter just yet.

The Bull is what they call the wide technique end, hence Josh black being in that spot and Byrd still listed as the Husky...

Now he's saying that you can't name a starting QB based on one game or one scrimmage, so he isn't going to name one. He could have said that weeks ago, but he was saying the coaches would name on starter. How many spring games did he think they were going to play? Did USF cancel a six game spring season? What Taggart says one day is contradicted the next. You can't run any organization that way and expect to get results. It's no wonder the team has been miserable the last two years. The players never know what the plan is from one day to the next.

Assuming we get Nigel Harris back... our defense next year will be outstanding - only replacing 2 "starters" in Byrd and Lee -- and I think their replacements will fill in nicely... On offense, we will lose 3 OL "starters" but will have 5 upperclassmen that can start as OL... we lose Price and Pope - but all of our other skill players come back. I know a lot of people here are pessimistic about this year... but I think we have a scheme that fits our talent... that Flowers will be able to make some plays with his feet when White would have taken a sack or thrown the ball away... Put it this way... I think the 2015 Bulls are an awful lot like the 2006 Bulls... that was Grothe's first year... the trajectory was up from a low point in 2004... and while the low in 2013 was a LOT lower, the trajectory is still up under CWT. If 2015 resembles 2006... then 2016 will be a lot like 2007. I may be wearing Green and Gold glasses, but I think USF will make it to a bowl game at 7-5... and with the talent and experience coming back in 2016, we will all be more optimistic a year from now... when we're dissecting the next "post spring depth chart"

It says two things to me: 1) CWT wants to reward Bench for his solid effort at the spring game, and during practice. Kid works hard and showed some spark. 2) Flowers has to keep working if he wants to be the "automatic" starter. He's clearly improved, still needs polish IMO, and with Bench chomping at the bit...well, QF has motivation to push even harder for the nod. Taggart's either in charge or he's not, and he's decided neither is head & shoulders over the other. He mentioned a couple of good reasons to name a starter at the time IIRC, so with all the pressure on him to name one, he and his staff must have decided they just need to see more. Of course, a third thing it might be saying is that he doesn't want to lose another QB to transfer by naming the starter now. People that are bad at being in charge flip flop all the time and are indecisive. I had hoped that we were past this based on his comments a few weeks ago. Instead we are clearly back to the Coach Flip Flop. We will abandon the spread by the third quarter of game one.

He's going to flip flop halfway through game one... because he can't name a starter 5 months away from kick off? Get out of here.. Take a nap, you'll feel better. Go Bulls!
