It's summertime and the football season is eons away from the fans' perspective, but USF heads need to think about how to leverage the upcoming season.

Let's look at what happened to Western Michigan. (1) They were one of the outside teams (non-p5) that received all kinds of press last season as their ranking rose. (2) They went to a good bowl and put up a decent effort -and had a good turnout with fan numbers. (3) They lost their head coach to a p5 with a bag of money. (4) They will be forgotten this upcoming season once they lose a game. "Who dat?"

USF is going to have the opportunity to be last year's Western Michigan.

Q: How are we going to leverage all the press into ticket sales and whatever else (maybe a p5 invite in the future)?

Q: How will USF work with the AAC to leverage the press coverage?

Q: How are we going to make the bowl turnout spectacular (to say that we belong in a p5)?

Q: What is our contingency plan for when a p5 comes in and takes the head coach and everybody away?

It's been since 2007 that USF football was ranked throughout the season. Well, it's going to happen again, unless we lay an egg.

USF needs to leverage this opportunity!

We were in for week 3 and out for week 10. Snuck back in for week 14 and out for week 15. That's an entire season, right?

I am not sure why these received down votes.

I think it is premature to think we will be this year's WMU.  Maybe we are this year's Houston.  I hope we are the former but we have to play the games and we have a new coach and lost Mack/Adams.

We have a pretty favorable schedule and will be favored to win most, if not all our games, but we still need to play.  I would feel a whole lot better if this were Strong's second year.

Houston had a great OOC schedule while WMU did not; I think that is where the comparison lies. Also, with having the NY6 Bowl opportunity. As much as we look at this season with wide open eyes and assume undefeated or bust, that's still a lot of crazy expectations for a new coaching staff. I believe the department is doing a great job so far; market Q as a Heisman candidate and that this team could be very special with Charlie Strong. Heck, I know a few local families that are UF fans that bought season tickets because of the Strong connection; they are jumping on the hometown bandwagon. Which is exactly what needs to happen. Get the folks to the games with a fun atmosphere and team that romps everyone on the schedule. Get the record up and market the November run of games.
