FWIW - I wish we'd act more like a degree mill, at least for student athlete admissions. Prematurely acting like we were Stanford is half the reason both of our main revenue programs are in the state they're in.

UCF on the same level academically? They're a degree mill.

There's a reason we have more grad students (despite being smaller) and 3x the endowment / research expenditures (... despite being smaller). Get your head out your ass if you think UCF is on a level playing field with us academically. They compare more favorably to FAU and FIU.

16 year old's SAT scores may be negligibly better for UCF, however the research money institutions POUR into USF isn't even close. What's more indicative of academic success?

Really, you don't think the endowment has more to do with having a medical school for so long compared to UCF?  Truth is, with UCF's Medical City that gap will shrink quickly.

To me, academic success is your students graduating and going out into the real world and getting good jobs, making good money and giving back to the University.

I'll bite. No, I don't think a medical school is solely responsible for 3x the endowment and/or research expenditures. If it does, you guys are morons for not opening one sooner. We'll see how much the gap actually shrinks.

Awesome. Do you have any statistics to give us which shows this? For some anecdotal evidence, I now make 6-figures after graduating from my beloved USF and give back 5-figures every year (through a company match).

Endowment size is almost ubiquitously viewed as *the* standard for judging a university. There's a reason Harvard has the largest endowment, why UF has by far the largest endowment in our state, and why UCF is closer to (but still behind) FAU than any of the other major public FL universities. Money talks. Degree mills don't fetch large investments from outside entities nor do they typically have capacity to handle capital as well.

You'll need more than flash in the pan success to overtake us in endowment or research expenditures. Good luck with that med school.

I agree. And I think both schools have improved that dramatically. USF has more medical stuff on the way, but that is an arms race I'm okay with happening, as it benefits many.
