USF UCF the tables have turned

We dominate them for 4-0, and in their best year, and our worst, they beat us by 3 points, a 2 loss team, and now they don't want a rivalry between us anymore.

 

Who is "they"?

 

I don't know a single UCF fan that is beating their chest and saying "nah, we'd rather have a rivalry with Miami/Florida/FSU" like USF did several years back.

 

Everyone I know wants this rivalry. I can't stand USF but part of me is irritated that the Bulls have been so bad recently that it affects a packaged deal for us to go to the Big 12 if they come calling.

 

 

That's because you've never beaten any of them and aren't in a P5 conference. I guarantee if UCF was in the same situation as USF back then, you would have had fans doing the exact same thing ...

 

Having said that, the article that started this thread is much ado about nothing ...

I hate the fact this is our "rivalry" and big game now. I will never attend another game there and can't believe how far we have fallen. We used to laugh at the idea of this game.

I don't blame Harlan but man I wish we had bigger goals in mind.

 

USF was fortunate, perhaps lucky to be in the position they were in in the first place with being such a young football program.  A lot of things had to come together for it to happen so fast.  Maybe it's part of the reason that the bottom fell out and the Bulls have had trouble recovering since.  USF was never above playing UCF, just like the reverse is true now.  

 

Everyone has bigger goals in mind but start by winning the American, or finishing above .500 in the Big East/American (hasn't been done since 2007)

 

 

I actually agree with you for the most part. Never felt we we above it, just that we were worried about trying to compete in a real conference with traditional programs and were not going all out in the marketing department to try to generate hype for a crappy game to try to finish in the middle of the pack of a terrible conference.  We were indeed fortunate and the tables have turned.

The tables haven't turned. We are now both at the same table and this should turn into a decent rivalry as long as we are.

We are not rivals. This game is a burden, not a rivalry. It's not important. USF is making me sick with the hype they are pushing. They really don't want my money.
