prerecorded HOT being piped into the stadium?

Am sitting in different seats to normal so getting different acoustics but almost sounds like the band is playing to the sound track. Is this new today?

(The give away was hearing the band play as normal 1 min before halftime when they were all on the sideline not playing)

Well they have been playing this stupid music between every single play when the band wasn't in the seats, so maybe they decided to swap it out with the band playing.

They played recorded band music between plays as the band was making their way to the sidelines during the second quarter to get ready for the halftime show.  I liked it.

I thought it sounded lame.  It's one thing to mic them and it's another to just play a prerecorded track of the band playing with fans cheering in the background.

The modern thinking seems to be we need amplified overly loud and obnoxious sound every minute that the play is not going on. I wish they would tone it down a bit, ok, a whole lot. There is a time for everything, and the more you use the sound system, the more it becomes just noise.

I'm really okay with all this, except why on earth does HOT play on every down when we have the ball?  What happened to "SSSHHHH OFFENSE WORKING"?  We were on offense near the end zone with the speakers and they were playing the Bull on 3rd down - exactly what they play for 3rd down on defense.
