Soft coverage, 3 man rushes on the QB. This guy isn't an idiot. I was ticked because the game was so close, but he gave Maryland no film on the defense to study. Do you think Maryland did this as well?

He was mad. If he knew he was setting up the defense to fail with soft coverage, why would be so upset?

I thought Wulff did a good job on the offensive play calling. Receivers were running open all over the field. White just couldn't connect. Hopefully White will calm down for the Maryland game. As far as CCB is concerned, I hope he's installed a good plan to stop the bubble screen. Because if I was Maryland, I would run it until they prove they can stop me. To a certain degree it makes sense to me to start out with the basics, get their play on film and teach the young guys then add more schemes, etc. On the other hand, the way the offense played last year this was scary as hell. One thing to be said though. It was only 17-16 at halftime. We pretty much shut them down after the 2nd TD until we were up by 2 scores and went back to basics again. We will see in the coming weeks if it works. Still pretty risky considering oir offensive production last year.

So we let WCU almost beat us? Considering the McNeese State debacle last year, it sounds like someone on that coaching staff sure likes playing with fire. New defense, new players in different positions ... Sounds like he wanted them to react more than think, just get their feet wet in this first game under real fire. As has been pointed out, they changed things up a bit in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and only allowed a field goal.
