I remember BJ played a bit against UT Martin when Grothe was a Junior on the 1st game of that year and then redshirted. Game 3, but it must be for "medical" reasons. That's not true anymore IIRC. So, in football, if the player plays in three games or less of the first six and then obtains an injury, he may be granted a hardship waiver (what everyone calls a medical redshirt).
