Too bad he wound up transferring to FIU, and I haven't heard a peep of what became of that kid. To keep this on topic, McGee sounds like a solid pick-up. I can't wait to see some more Team Tampa kids sticking around though.

What does this mean for USF? Profile: Khalid McGee Position:SafetyLocation: Miami (Fla.) NorthwesternHeight: 5-foot-10Weight: 180-pounds Recruiting: McGee committed to South Florida over programs like Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, Wisconsin, UCF, and Rutgers. What I like: McGee is a very good, all-around football player. He’s versatile and lines up at a number of different spots on the Northwestern defense. He’s close to the line of scrimmage and away as well. McGee plays both safety spots, cornerback and linebacker. The first thing that jumps out at me is his aggression. This is a kid that stands out against the run, in coverage and on special teams. You better have your head on a swivel because he’s always hitting something. McGee is so physical and loves contact. He shows range in run support and is a big hitter. McGee can make plays behind the line of scrimmage and shows good fundamentals when tackling. He shows speed when locating the football. I just love the way this kid closes to the ball. McGee also shows pretty good coverage skills. He can go up and attack the football. McGee shows some recovery speed when he gets beat. He shows instincts in zone, can play the quarterbacks eyes and makes plays on the ball. McGee is also a special teams contributor on kick return as a blocker and kick coverage as a gunner. What may be of concern: My main concern is his size. I see him best suited to play strong safety. How will he matchup against taller players? How will he match up against quicker players in the slot? Can he adjust to playing in space at the next level? He does show he can make open field tackles well in high school. Overall analysis: I think McGee is USF’s best defensive pickup to date. I just like his overall game, his aggressive style and he shows the ability to play the run, play in coverage and looks to be a special teams standout on a handful of units. His versatility and athleticism will bring a lot to two Bulls units. McGee may have some matchup issues, especially against bigger tight ends. But much of that could also depend on how he’s schemed. South Florida is also landing a good player from a Dade County power, which never hurts. They have to have a significant presence in south Florida. There are just too many good recruits from that part of the state and Willie Taggart and his staff need to sign their share. http://recruiting.scout.com/2/1433586.html? But I'm impressed by how much power & leverage he gets when hitting. He explodes at impact.
