I wouldn't waste a dime on trying this on those asshats, but if you can find someone to donate the caps, fine .... Pretty much the only thing, if anything, that will switch them over is winning ... along with, possibly, some physical intimidation.

These sound like "fair-weather fan" types. I'll pass.

There is nothing wrong with any type of fan who is willing to represent the USF logo in public. Even less wrong with the fair-weather fan who spends money on random usf tickets, apparel or otherwise.

Its all $$

Take some of that BE exit money and order a bunch of USF gear.

When the fall semester starts, have student workers look out for anyone who's wearing gear (garbage!) from other schools go up to those lost souls and negotiate a trade up for USF gear. Have them sign a piece of paper of allegiance to USF and to only wear USF gear from now on (when they fancy to do so).

Collect all of the non-USF gear (garbage!) and hold a burning event! Have Rocky light it!

This is how we build tradition at USF!

Great Idea man. Maybe even tie it into a homecoming event. A homecoming bonfire. Should be plenty of time to get a good collection going.   :guinness:

The open burning of residential yard waste and household garbage or trash is prohibited in Hillsborough County....without authorization from the county.

IMO. the idea would be a waste of money.

Fairly certain a school event like this could get a waiver. If not literally burned they could be disposed in another manner.  I don't think there would be a huge expense in swapping out Shirts or hats for a few hundred students as a homecoming event. You can get shirts printed for $5 or less, and isn't there currently a sale on Lids for $5? I am sure less if in bulk.  350 shirts, 150 hats would be about 2500? double that for $5000? That is drops in the bucket for what the school spends on events and it encourages the students to have pride in the university and have FUN. I am sure you could even find a sponsor for the event. Such Debbie downers. Are we BULLS!? or just old and out to pasture. Knock the rust off geezers.

They actually did something similar for a few years.

You could trade another school's shirt for a free USF "Our Shirt"

The other school's shirt was given to Goodwill.

They did this during some games and at some events in either the old Marshall Center or Bookstore.

Here's a link I was able to bring up on a quick search about a few of the events:

EDIT: Granted it was a "Our Shirt" and not a UA branded shirt.

That's still cool though, anything to get our colors on em.

Wow more haters in this thread than I thought.

I'm with OP. I've talked to people in marketing and development and they get it. Marketing has significantly improved in taste and form already. Have some faith people, Harlan is smarter than his predecessor.

I thought this thread was just going to say, "Win!"

That's something we've never really tried.

This problem won't be solved by giving away free shirts. Win some games and the students will start to care again.

Have to get on Under Armor to pump out some new products, too. The stuff available these days looks terrible.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
