May be the stupidest rule in college sports.

Nevins has to get it under control, though. Hard to believe it's still an issue considering last year.

It's a habit that she can't obviously break...it changes her from a dominant pitcher to a liability.

It's a bad rule, it's horribly inconsistently applied, and the penalty when there are runners on base is ridiculous.

I'm no expert in softball pitching, but I would think she should be coached to point her toes on her back foot more downward so there's no visible space between the ground and her feet ... Or something like that.

This is the BIG issue

At this game it was a non-issue until the FSU coaches complained.

Also its a non-issue in int'l play.  And as the commentators stated, it doesn't give the pitcher an advantage. Hopping and then pushing off would, which is very different.

Now they are calling some very very questionable pitches as illegal.

There are all sorts of video and screecaps of MLB pitchers doing the same thing.  It is also illegal in baseball but never, ever called.  The whole thing is ridiculous if you aren't going to call it even remotely consistently.

Is there a single sport USF plays where anyone could use the words "fundamentally sound" when talking about us?

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

"I wish you guys could be in the locker room and be on the practice field because it is so much different from what it has been in the past."
