And the name Anthony Grant surfaces as a candidate for .@USFMBB

Five years this would have been the home run hire we are looking for today. Amazing what five years does to your coaching career.

He sucks

170-96 in 8 seasons. 3 ncaa appearances, and 3 nit appearances.

No he's not Shaka Smart, but it's not a bad candidate.

but, i didn't know he was making close to 2 mil.

Lot of pressure on Grant to produce next season or he'll be fired. That pressure went up a few notches when Auburn brought in Bruce Pearl to coach their team. Grant wanted out before Pearl got that job, one has to guess that he really would leave before the hounds are released on him if the right offer came around to him.

No doubt Grant followed the Dave Rice and USF situation closely and probaly saw a way out. Rice was going to be on the Hot Seat next season as well, but USF gave him the opportunity to get more job security at his Alma mater. Alabama won't extend Grant at all, but he can get a another job to start over and have that job security for a few more years at the very least. If USF offers he's coming

April is coming and recruiting will be starting up with AAU season. USF needs to make a move on a coach over the next week.

I'd pass on Grant and Roc. Grant wasn't very impressive at Bama and Roc was here under Heath. Also 76-78 record for Roc and it seems to me that the players were very lazy last year and I'm not convinced that Roc would toughen them up.

Reading up on his last year:

  • Associate head coach Dan Hipsher left for the University of Texas-Pan American.
  • Starting center Moussa Gueye transferred to Valparaiso.
  • 5-star recruit Trevor Lacey transferred to North Carolina State University (to join his previous coach.)
  • Freshman Devonta Pollard, a 5-star recruit, was charged as part of a kidnapping for which his mother was arrested the previous month.
  • Starting guard Levi Randolph was out for a few weeks, due to an injured knee

May explain the disappointing year, and why players rallied around him.

Troy Holston gives his support to.

Gossip! Horrible media. No news or links until we've got a coach saying hi at a press conference!
