Nah. As things are going for us now he will leave to WF or Marquette.

You really have to give the search form credit as there really has been little media attention to who will be USF's next mens coach. To me, the search committee has been effective in that way. Even Andy Katz has not even pushed some of his friends towards the USF jobs like he has done in the past. We can all thank McMurphy for reporting all the coaches that turned down USF in the past for USF using the search firm route. Not many will know how many coaches turned USF down this time around

B.D doesn't always make sense. But when he does, I agree with him.

Pearl, Williams, and Smart are home run hires. Pearl and Williams were attainable for the right money. Smart hasn't held out the last three years for a USF offer. It's just not gunna happen.

Unless there's someone else I'm unaware of we're targeting, USF missed their chance for a home run splash hire with Williams.

IMHO, this scene should be happening right now.

(Harlan dialing)

(Smart answers): Hello?

Harlan: Hi, Shaka, it's Mark Harlan, the new AD at USF.

Smart: San Francisco?

Harlan, No, Southern...uh, South Florida. Listen, what's it gonna take for you to be our coach here?

Smart: (says whatever)

Harlan: Done. Pack your bags, the presser's in 4 hours.

Smart's to smart to fall for that. USF is like St. Pete for coaches  - it's where they go to die...

If Pearl and Williams were attainable for the "right money", so is Smart. Problem is whether USF had the "right money" to get any of them ...

My understanding, from friends I know up in Milwaukee, is that Williams signed with VaTech for less money than he was making at Marquette. He hated the AD and wanted out that much.

We were busy signing a search firm.

C'mon Swampy, be reasonable. Unless you were in the room, you don't know whether or not we offered Buzz, nor how much.
