Will we pay a new basketball coach more than our football coach?

If Taggart turns the dumpster fire that he was handed into a winning program, then we will have to pay to keep him. With that said, he does not deserve any more money until he delivers results. That is where DW failed.

CWT should not get ANY new deals until he produces something. Last season was a failure. No reason to pay him more just because we hire a prominent MBB coach.

What are the thoughts of going higher in Mens Basketball coaching salaries, when in fact, it's not what drives dollars or fans in the area?

Is it a must do?

Maybe the more important task is to play all the games off-campus, regardless of who coaches...

No. The immediate reaction to any firing is to go towards the sex appeal. I don't think a massive name is a sure fire thing here. In fact I wouldn't be shocked if its a young assistant

I don't agree with that sentiment.  Basketball doesn't drive dollars and fans because the product has been perpetually bad.  Toward the end of the 2012 season fans were starting to turn out at the Forum for the NCAA run.

If they want basketball to drive dollars, then they better get someone to deliver a great product.  Does a big name, high dollar coach assure that? No, but I can easily get behind USF making the stand to getting one.

If the goal is to get out of the American, then USF must truly stop at nothing to increase the football and basketball product by any means necessary.  An expensive proven winner is a good start on basketball.

I just can't see how we can afford a big named coach for MBB when we are paying a good deal to the buyout of Holtz and Heath.

That's a good question .... but if it's not what drives dollars or fans, why bother to make the move now? If they don't make a "splash" move with the hire, to generate immediate interest, I'm not seeing not giving Stan one more year.
